Fantastic fries. Sure, it's a bit annoying that they don't have ketchup, but the fries are so freshly cooked and salted that they are perfect even without any condiments. I have to admit I'm a bit surprised that anyone would compare these to fries served at any random burger joint. They're light years beyond any of the frozen food service fries you'd get at any of those places.

They're good fries but not great. I assume because they're hyped on the boardwalk they get more praise than if they were served at a sit down restaurant with a burger. I'm not fond of people telling me how to enjoy my food so the whole "we don't serve ketchup" attitude doesn't sit well with me. So we found that Grotto Pizza across the street has packets and I covered them in 4 glorious packets worth. Pffft.

Before heading to Rehoboth Beach, I had to yelp what food places they are famous for and Thrasher's French Fries came up. I love me some french fries so you know I had to drag my bf here to indulge! They're famous for their french fries and putting vinegar over it. No ketchup provided here so bring your own! I was skeptical about putting vinegar on my fries but I just had to try it. It actually was pretty tasty. We both enjoyed it. Stop by and grab some fries while you're here! And they do take credit card!

This by far is a must when visiting Rehoboth! They have the best fries around! Nothing compares to Thrashers hand cut fries! Don't forget to add your salt and malt vinegar :) They also have really yummy lemonade too!!

These Boardwalk fries are "hands-down" the best I've ever ever found! Generous portions and salt-n-vinegar galore to flood your taste buds! I've been going to thrashers since I was a kid and just wish we had this franchise out in LA where I live now! This is my favorite boardwalk treat!

Thrashers Fries sole purpose is to make the best French fries on this planet (insert evil laugh) I didn't ask any questions when I walked up to the open window (no how's and whys). Any place that only makes fries should have awesome fries super cold sodas. Pipping hot, the fries were handed to me. They use salt and vinegar to dress the fries after they come out of the fryer. They can substitute malt for apple cider vinegar if you ask. They were awesome, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. No ketchup needed. My mistake: not asking what type of oil they used to fry the potatoes and where they get their potatoes from. I guess next time I'll find out.

They are sooo Great.. On my first trip to Rehoboth Beach - I encountered the delicious Thrashers Fries.... They are located in the most perfect spot on the boardwalk... just inches away from the beach and the shore.. And yes I mean - its just a few steps and you can enjoy these Delicious hot french fries!!!! Initially I was kinda over them - because they did not have any dipping sauces and im a pomme frites with killer dipping sauces kind of gal.... but the staff explained the vinegar they serve these with is the only sauce necessary.... So taken aback a bit I carried a medium size sack towards the shore. Dare I say they were perfect... maybe it was the weather or the sounds of the ocean... whatever it was these were the best addition to my afternoon beach trip. The vinegar was soo good.. somewhere between tangy soft and wet... it was a little different to dip a fry into a wet little dipping sauce cup.. but it was truly a treat.. I enjoyed the lot of them and continued to dip in the wet vinegar.... it was fun... and i am always going to be thinking about fries on the beach now....

These are not French Fries they are Thrashers Fries. Enough with the Ketchup complaining. Go to McDonald's for that. Would you add ketchup to sushi too! You don't get it. Gluten free fries - made right every time. They even swapped out the malt vinegar for apple cider vinegar so now I can enjoy my boardwalk fries with the CORRECT condiment. (None of that ketchup nonsense here at Thrashers!)

I have absolutely no idea what is so special about these fries? They're the same French fries you can get at many fast food restaurants and they taste extremely similar to Five Guy's fries. The only difference between Five Guys and Thrashers? The prices! $7 for fries that would be $4 at Five Guys? As I have said in my other reviews, I am all about paying for better quality, but there's nothing at all unique about Thrashers; the fries are just okay. I am extremely surprised at all of the positive reviews? Also, why is there no ketchup available? Who doesn't like ketchup on his or her fries?

We always look forward to this special treat on the beach when visiting Rehoboth. If you are french fry fanatic, you've got to try these. Even after 20 years , they still have that incredible- unique taste. A Delmarva Beach delicacy we always never miss. It is OK to "sin" once in a while and dining on these fries once in a blue moon is worth it.

3.5 stars... Thrashers may be a Rehoboth tradition since the 1920s but it's very much over rated. All they do is french fries, they don't season the fries, and they don't offer ketchup. Prices are too high for what you're getting ($4.50 for a small cup of fries). At the counter they have salt and apple cider vinegar you can use to season your fries. The vinegar is definitely tasty if you're into that flavor but I just wanted some ketchup. It's like have a peanut butter sandwich without the jelly. Because the fries are in a cup only the top fries really got any salt which is why they should really do the basic seasoning for you. Negatives aside I did like the fries. They're hand cutting the potatoes there and because the place is so popular you're always getting hot and fresh fries. They're nice and thick without being too thick. They could have been a little crisper but overall they're making solid french fries. Overall though I'd say pass on Thrasher's.

definitely try the fries at least once during your trip! Are they the best fries i've had in my life? No. But are any fries really the best fries you've ever had in your life? Fries to me are like pizza. They are usually always good, but there's never a certain one that blows my mind. The malt vinegar and salt make them great, but it's also a bit of a mess with the container leaking vinegar.

This is a must to have in Rehoboth. Don't worry that they don't have ketchup, the fries absolutely doesn't need it. Also, don't go if you're allergic to peanuts, because the fries are cooked in peanut oil (which also makes them taste great)!

My research into our visit to Rehoboth had yielded many insights to what to check out - and Thrasher's was at the top of the list. While walking around the Boardwalk in the morning, I pointed them out to my fiance, knowing they would be right up his alley. We agreed that we had to try them later on - but then the day just disappeared and we found ourselves leaving dinner at Eden and realizing that we had to leave the next morning. We wandered around the main drag for a little bit, contemplating dessert options, and eventually found ourselves standing in front of a Kohr Bros' Frozen Custard and a Thrasher's French Fries. My fiance kept looking back and forth between the two, and I could tell that he just couldn't make up his mind - so I reminded him that he loves savory foods waaaay more than sweet ones, and would regret not trying Thrasher's fries since this was his only chance. He agreed and got a small (Haha! Not small at all) cup of them, dousing them with vinegar and sprinkling additional salt. And you know what? The Yelp hype is right - these are some of the best damn fries we've ever had. And adding the vinegar takes them right over the top - plus they were warm, and crunchy, and just delicious. The next morning as we were leaving, we enter our hotel's elevator and a couple is in there, talking about their night. The man was bemoaning the fact that he had chosen frozen custard over Thrasher's fries, and my fiance and I had to smile at one another and (later) agreed that he had made a poor choice.

Thrasher's has to get 5 stars as they are the epitome of Rehoboth Beach. The fries are freshly cut, fried in an amazing tasting kind of oil and sprinkled with salt. They have very good french fries, it feels like they use the "Belgium's method" of double fry. Very crispy and greasy like the french fries have to be. What it gives this place the "added value" is the Apple Vinegar on the fries if you want... I would never think it would taste that good. A lot better than I expected. They are not the best fries I've ate but it is worthy to eat when I'm in the beach at sunset and being so tire of swimming all day. Well... after a whole day in the beach, everything tastes better because you are so hungry, right?... ha ha ha :).

There is something in the water in DE/MD that makes certain foods addictive. You start heading down Route 1, and you are like mmmm I need Thrasher's, Fishers Popcorn, a crab cake and some candy kitchen. The only downside to this locale, cash only.....but other than that follow this equation a small feeds one hungry person or two moderately hungry, medium can feed two or three, and that large troth feeds a family and three hovering seagulls. Try them vinegar .....your tastebuds will be amazed. The vinegar brings out the sweetness of the spuds!

There are several locations along the boardwalk (and every other east coast beach, as well), and they all serve amazing, delicious fries around the clock. One of the many reasons why visiting the beach is so much fun.

best fries I have ever tasted. crispy, but soft. delicious. the reason I gave it 4 stars is because of how busy it is. not just during the summer, but in the winter and fall too. the line blocks off that section of the boardwalk and people take forever to put their salt and vinegar on the fries, so the line goes very slow.

Having been trapped in the vast wasteland between the east and west coast for all but a few weeks of my life, I was a little surprised to see an eatery whose sole business plan is to "sell french fries." After trying them, I got it. Double-fried to a crispy perfection that's rarely seen in my part of the country and served with your choice of condiments (so long as the only condiments you want are salt and apple cider vinegar), it's easy to see why Thrashers shares Chicagoans hatred for ketchup. It's also easy to see why surrounding restaurants help Thrashers prevent that nasty devil sauce from coming in contact with these perfect potatoes.

My favorite 2 days last week when we were back East was our trip to Rehoboth Beach. I'd heard about the place a lot since my in-laws are all from Delaware. Still, it was so much fun being there over the 4th of July weekend and I wish the West Coast had something similar. Anyway, let's talk about Thrasher's... My wife and I ordered a large order of Thrasher's French Fries to eat with my brother & sister-in-law back on the beach. Those fries were steaming hot, crispy and tasted absolutely amazing! Served with vinegar and with a liberal sprinkle of sea salt, I'd say that's the perfect meal.

These are my favorite fries! I look forward to eating them any time I'm in Rehoboth or Ocean City. They're always hot, crispy, and just delicious. They have locations throughout the boardwalk, they don't have any places to sit but there are benches all over the boardwalk or I usually take mine down to the beach (watch out for pelicans). If you put vinegar on your fries, like I do, ask for a double container or a bag or even both. The vinegar can soak the bottom of the container and cause it to open up and your fries will end up all over the boardwalk (it truly is a tragedy). The reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because I think they're overpriced. BUT since I only get them once or twice a year they are worth it!

Great Fries!!! I thought it would be the same as Five Guys fries, because both are fried in 100% peanut oil, but Thratchers is gooodd. For $6 I got a a huge tub (a.k.a. Medium) size of fries. Good deal The LARGE fires is LARGE! Its almost the same size as a KFC tub, but dont feel bad, because many people walk around with it on the boardwalk. So you will fit right in! Add ing the salt and malt viengar to it was yumm. The only downside is that, it's hard for the salt & malt vinegar to reach the rest of the fries, b/c the tub is tall&narrow. So the salt &malt vinegar only flavors the top fries :( But it is a MUST to get

Mmmm....delicious, fresh-cut, burning hot french fries with salt and vinegar. What's not to like? Not much, except the price. Other people posted about how cheap it is, but I have to disagree. $6 for a medium fry? It's a big medium, but come on, it's potatoes! I guess everything at the boardwalk is more expensive. Even so, they are good. It would make it a weekly habit or anything, but when I go back to Rehoboth, I probably will get some more.

Perfect beach fries. Perfectly cooked, nice amount of salt. They have Pepsi (yuck!), so I always get a Coke from the Grotto's around the corner (with a slice). They only take cash, so remember to bring some with you. They also don't have ketchup, so we bring a bottle with us to the beach. Make sure the seagulls don't grab your fries as you walk to the beach!

Giant buckets of fries and the smell of peanut oil filling the air just makes rehoboth....well... rehoboth. The trick is to eat your Thrasher's standing up near the stand, so that after a layer in the bucket has been devoured, you can return to the vinegar jar and re-bathe your fries with another washing of wonderful vinegar. For a large bucket, 3-4 bathings should suffice to give you pure fry bliss. The bottom few fries will be soggy all the way through -- this is how it should be. I grew up going to Rehoboth on average once a summer, and the board walk and Funland, along with Grotto Pizza, Thrasher's, Dallies popcorn and Candy Kitchen are staples of my memories from those times. However, upon return, I realize as an adult that the other establishments are very average, but Thrasher's remains worth the trip to the board walk.

What the heck? Potatoes fried in peanut oil with an offering of salt and vinegar to season to your taste. How good can this possibly be? Well, I do not know what the magic is in the tiny locations that must be impossibly hot during a blistering summer day but one thing is for sure the lines that form outside of these places are there for a reason. The best french fries ever and one of a couple of food reasons we come for a visit to the area every year.

I wish you could give 3 1/2 stars! Thrashers has been around forever. Good, double fried starchy goodness. With that being said, the last 3 or 4 times we've had them, they haven't been fully cooked. PROS: Fries, service, soda refils CONS: Should be a Surgeon General's warning on addiction The fries are great ... you just get fries -- which I like - and you add your level of salt. They do not serve ketchup, which might seem odd at first, but try the vinegar which is at the counter and sprinkle some onto the fries. Yeah, I thought vinegar on fries sounded nasty at first too - but it is malt vinegar, so it adds a touch of flavor that really beings out the potato taste in the fries themselves. I heard rumors about lines, and wait, there is none, so don't worry about that. The sizes are huge, a small is more than enough for one person ... a large is enough for a two block section of the beach ;-) and prices are a good value (a medium is $6.75 which is about the size of 3-4 Mc Donald's fries). KEEP YOU CUP --- you get $1 refills for as long as you have the cup and that means FOR AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE CUP .... if you are thrifty enough, keep the cup for a few years and keep getting $1 refills ... but be careful, because every time you go up for a refill, you will almost always end up buying more fries.

Walking down the boardwalk, I noticed people carrying tubs of crispy fries. My mouth started watering and the potato whore inside screamed "MUST. HAVE. FRIES." I immediately surveyed the boardwalk and jumped into a massively long line. Surprisingly, the line moved really fast and I was able to get my fries fix right away. The fries are simply awesome. It's perfeclty crispy on the outside, but the inside is soft and melts in your mouth. Becareful though, the fries are fresh. Which means it WILL burn if you try to devour it immediately after they hand it to you. Part of me says it's almost worth the searing hot pain because it's just that good. They only serve their fries with vinegar and salt, so don't ask for ketchup!

The best beach fries, period, full stop, the end. There's nothing like sitting on the boardwalk with piping hot crispy fries drenched in apple cider vinegar and salt. Nothing else gets cooked in the fryer so they are gluten-free friendly. The huge bucket seems disgustingly large and a major contributor to the obesity epidemic, but let's be honest, I'm pretty sure I could plow through it single-handedly. Expensive, fattening, but oh so worth it.

Whatever! That's all i have to say after eating these fries. You could go to wendy's...get similar fries and put vinegar on thse and pay 75 percent less. The "no ketchup at all" is pure marketing bull. What happened to have it your way? I found these fries to be ordinary and nothing special. There's something a bit off-putting about the smell of Thrashers as you walk by it (or them; there are lots of outlets in Rehoboth) to the beach on a hot day ... but the taste ... OMG! The best fries ever. Ever. And that includes Belgium too, where there are mighty good fries. I'm not so fond of the no ketchup rule since I believe that the customer should get what he or she wants, but personally I don't use ketchup on my fries so the rule is not that bothersome for me. My daughter loves the malt vinegar that they do offer, but they're just perfect plain in my opinion. This is a must do during your time at Rehoboth (along with the vanilla/orange twist frozen custard at Kohr's). I checked the moderate box because while the prices are in the cheap category as defined, they are a bit dear for fries ... but the fries are really really good.

A giant bucket of fries for a few bucks? Totally worth it. My family and I were walking down the Rehoboth Boardwalk, inspecting/criticizing its flaws compared to Virginia Beach. The parents were suggesting that we drive to Rehoboth, rather than all the way down to Virginia, and after being disappointed with the dirty sand, beach with bad waves, Rehoboth did not leave a lasting impression. And I bet you know where I'm heading now, "Thrasher's French Fries made things slightly better." And they sure did. They don't give ketchup, so prepare to have some water to drink, because once you start eating, you won't stop, which will lead to extreme thirst. Sadly, I didn't have water. . .but I had ice cream, so I guess ice cream works. And for people who don't like reading semi-long reviews, here's a sentence: Thrashers French Fries are cheap, by the bucket, and salty!

I think most people who are rating Thrashers so high must never had french fries in their life. It is just plain french fries with salt and apple cider vinegar. I paid $4.50 for a small french fry cup. I will say it was not worth it. Go to McDonalds or some place and get the same for cheaper. The high reviews here make me realize that most of the American public have LOW STANDARDS for food. They are JUST FRENCH FRIES. Come on people!!!! I found the fries to be extremely greasy and the taste was lacking.

Not sure what all the hooplah is surrounding the fries here. I thought they were just "eh." Who doesn't supply ketchup? I love ketchup with my fries. I have had much better fries throughout Rehoboth.

I'm not a big french fry person but this place has the BEST fries EVER! They have 3 sizes and they aren't cheap but it's worth it for how amazing the fries are. They don't serve ketchup, only salt and apple cider vinegar and I have to agree with it! It makes the fries even better! The service was so friendly and fast. Only drawback to this place is that the fries are dangerously addictive and horribly unhealthy, but hey you only live once!

It's a simple business model that works so well. It's worth the somewhat inflated price for these legendary french fries. There is plenty of apple vinegar and sea salt available if that's your thing. They don't offer ketchup though...

These guys do one thing and they do it very well. Fries. Delectable peanut oil fried potato strips by the bucket full. When you get them make sure to sprinkle them with the apple cider vinegar they provide at the counter.

The vinegar-salt fries here are fantastic and a quintessential beach experience. Don't look for ketchup (or Coke products for that matter), but if you want 100% peanut oil fries with the puckery flavor of vinegar, it doesn't get better than this.

A small order is huge. It's enough for 2 people to share. The fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had never had vinegar on my fries before, but it was pretty good. I would have liked more salt on my fries. You can put some on after I guess, but it's best when salted right out of the fryer. Also, a ketchup option would be nice too.

On my last trip back East, I went on a crazy food binge on the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. It started with Thrasher's which I absolutely loved. The fries were perfectly cooked- not too crispy, not too soggy. I am now hooked on fries w/ vinegar after trying Thrasher's. These could be the best fries I've ever had and this place is a definite can't miss if you happen to be on the boardwalk in Rehoboth.

I LOVE this place, always have always will... It is the quintessential beach food. Whenever arriving at the beach (where I spent my summers as a kid) I think about all the things I used to do and figure out what food I must eat while I am in Deleware. Thrashers is it. Grottos sometimes, Camel's Hump was amazing til they closed down, Nice Cream Day was great... Thrashers is still a must-eat. Vinegar + French Fries is absolutely divine! And no they do not serve ketchup :-)

Thrasher's is a Rehoboth staple. There is nothing better than a steaming hot pile of fries with some vinegar poured over top. You can never go wrong here.

If you're in Rehoboth, these are a must. Such a great tradition. My mouth is watering just thinking of them. Made from real potatoes, these are how fries should be. Anything else is just mediocre. I've been eating Thrasher's my entire life (well, not for a few years, since I don't make it to Delaware much anymore), and it's one of the places I always insist on hitting when in the area. Lots of salt and vinegar, only. Unless you want to look like a jerk.

This shack is what keeps me coming to Rehobeth every summer! A few dollars gives you a giant styrofoam cup of the best french fries you have ever tasted. No ketchup, but why use ketchup when there's malt vinegar aplenty (ketchup is for bad fries anyway). Fries, Sodas, nothing else; if you want food food, check out Grottos Pizza across the street.

Thrasher's French Fries, oh how I will miss thee. I almost feel like a bastard buying these because I feel like I'm helping kill the poor teenagers that work here in the summer - it must be 130 degrees near the fryers. Alas, I'd love to have more of a conscience. You simply cannot visit the DE beaches without coming here, its blasphemy and punishable by fine. If you're an out-of-towner do not use ketchup, its only vinegar here folks.

I've always said that I want to die laughing. But a close second would be eating these fries. Since childhood, my fondest memories have been of sitting with my family on the boardwalk eating these fries--doused with apple cider vinegar, of course--and people watching. The fries are cheap, made fresh, and come out fast. What more can I say? Once you've had them, you'll never be able to eat McDonald's fries again. P.S. They only sell fries and drinks. And, yes, no ketchup. But they do have vinegar. And ketchup IS half vinegar. So there!

I still miss George's French Fries. It wasn't a big business, but a local stand. There are other local beachfront french fry stands still in town. To mention a few: Just north of Dolle's on the boardwalk, there is a walk-in place (used to be the Beach Luncheonette, now it has Louie's Pizza and fries, etc). Note: no more fries there in 2011. Two blocks south on the boardwalk is Gus&Gus; they have served Greek/ American griddle breakfast and lunch food for many years. their fries are fresh and, unlike Thrashers, you can have your ketchup. Give them a try, too.

Fries from Thrasher's are a must for many visitors to Rehoboth but I have to admit not being a huge fan. I like junk food as much as the next girl, but geez are these greasy! And I like my ketchup, hat is with the vinegar?? Great location however, raising the 2.5 I'd like to give these to a 3.

Awesome boardwalk fries. Thrasher's has got to be making a healthy profit margin (was it $6 for a medium bucket of fries? I've had the same amount of fries plus a burger for less in some places. Or maybe I remember wrong.). But they're great. You add the salt and the apple cider vinegar (it's easy to skimp on this, so make sure to load up). No ketchup, it would just mess these up. It's also in Ocean City and has been around since the '20s. And it only sells fries and drinks. Could these be the best fries I've ever had? Almost without a doubt, and that's saying a lot...

Thrasher's French Fries = childhood summer vacations. Whether we were hitting Wildwood, NJ or Rehoboth, nothing beats real potatoes cut and fried in real peanut oil and topped with salt and a healthy dash of vinegar. Oh, how I miss the boardwalks!

A must have anytime you find yourself in Rehoboth. What could possibly be wrong with piping hot fries smothered in vinegar and salt. If you don't believe me ask the locals. The feathered locals will follow you in hopes of a dropped fry. Just a word of caution though if you do drop one you will have every gull in a three block radius squawking at you in no time at all. So get a large bucket and you will have plenty for you and all your new friends.

A big cup full of quality cut french fries, fried when you order it. Ketchup? Hell no. Iodized salt and apple malt vinegar is all you get and all you want. Don't mess with it!

we enjoyed their "bucket" of fries yesterday while on the boardwalk - hot fresh and yummy!!! Just watch out for those gulls flying above as they are not afraid to dive in for a nibble.

thrasher's is at the TOP of my list of places to eat while at the beach - i absolutely cannot go without their french fries! you must eat them with vinegar, NOT ketchup, in fact i dont even think they offer any at the counter to put on the fries. they are so good - super hot, with salt, and fresh-tasting. look out for seagulls, who also understand how amazing thrasher's fries are, and will surely steal some from you as you walk on the boardwalk or eat them on the beach!
